poem – washerdryer

By

washerdryer

i have dwelt in the laundry room

for too long in hopes of finding a sock

before it is gone forever i have pulled back

the rubber of the washer and rooted

around underneath the lint trap

but it seems as if the art-deco hair clip

i have loved so dearly

has gained a new friend

in the party of things that i will

probably not get back in a place i am

not sure i want to be.
